Tech Talk is a series highlighting a member of the Gophermods Family. We presented each of our technicians, managers and employees with 10 questions. These are their answers. Today our guest is Addison Cox: Regional Manager for Gophermods St. Anthony and Woodbury.

1.

I grew up in Eagan, went to school in FL and lived briefly in GA but now I’m back home in MN and living in Uptown.

LG G5, the simplicity of its construction. It’s well thought out to be a high quality build but also lends to a high level of replaceable parts, screen included, should something go awry.

4. What is the biggest repair challenge you’ve faced?

I had an iPad Air come in for a gentleman who worked for a construction company. The iPad was dropped off of a work site and then run over as well, after much reshaping of the frame which on the Air is a daunting task, as well as replacing the LCD and Digitizer we were able to get it up and running so he could get back to work.

5. What motivated you to be a part of Gophermods?

I had moved home from GA and found the job posting. I have a passion for technology and how things are built, and the company seemed like a great group of people also with similar passions.

6. What is your favorite piece of technology that you own?

As odd as it sounds probably my car. Not only do I appreciate all of the complex electronics that all works beautifully together but also the mechanics of the engine itself. Like I said earlier I like knowing how all things are built and engines are no exception.

7. What is your current phone?

I am currently using the LG G5.

8. What do you like about your phone?

I really enjoy that LG is holding steadfast to having removable batteries, expandable storage and also top notch camera technology in their phones, all while producing a high quality phone. Also the fast charging is great, I can get back to almost a full charge in not much more than an hour.

9. After repairing a wide variety of phones, is there one you would consider switching from your current one for?

The only other manufacturer I would possibly switch to would be Nokia but only after they start using Android on their hardware.

10. What is the most bizarre or unusual repair you have ever encountered?

We once attempted to get some signs of life out of a young ladies LG G3 that she had ended up putting into the microwave whilst sleepwalking. Can’t say I’ve ever seen bubbling on a logic board before.
